Thanks acdii! I understand. Just surprised. Many components of the trailer (such as my TPO rubber roof made by Alpha) are made by others, but the owners manual is quite detailed and seems comprehensive to describe every warning, use, function, and maintenance need of so many components. Just surprised that there is not a word on axle wheel bearings. None.

I agree with the posts above about checking. All that grease on the castle nut looks funny. I would pull it apart, replace seals, repack bearings and know where things stand as far as condition. Nothing worse than losing a wheel in the middle of nowhere due to bad bearings.

Years ago, 80-81 I think, my dad had a 4 x 8 trailer with a single axle and tiny tires. Well on a trip home from Minong WI, one wheel seized. It welded the inner bearing to the spindle. Needless to say it took hours to hacksaw it off to get new bearings installed, on the side of the interstate too. That is something that sticks with you so one of the things I makes sure of is that the bearings are not only greased, but properly greased, too much is just as bad as too little when there are also brakes involved, so keep that in mind too.
