Kodiak hybrid 172E brakes

Took the new trailer out for the maiden voyage this weekend, and tried to set up the brake system with a new TV. Ford F150 with an integrated brake controller.

Never could get them to lock up, even at the highest gain. I'm guessing I need to adjust the brakes at the drum and try again. I've pursued the threads and seen the videos. Looks like something I could do.

FWIW, at 8.5, the trailer stops and slows nice. It bothers me that this ultra light nerds that much gain. And that I never could get them locked up. From what I researched, I should get them to lock up, then back it down a .5.

FWIW, the manual on my F-350 says sometimes even at the highest settings they won't lock up. They don't say what you should do to compensate. Thinking if you stop nice at 8.5, maybe leave well enough alone, but that's me.

I know that the integrated system on my 2010 F450 is progressive, meaning that the harder you push the pedal, the more power it pushes to the trailer brakes. Mine actually has a graphic display to show it working if you push the right buttons. With that system, it would be very hard to get the trailer brakes to lock, without standing hard on the pedal. I just adjust mine to stop like normal unloaded, with slightly more pedal pressure. Keep in mind that my F450 has some very good brakes, so your truck might be different.
