Jack for changing tires
Good day folks,
Wife and I are about to take our maiden TT voyage in 2 weeks. We have been reading, watching videos and asking experienced RV folks for tons of opinions so we feel pretty confident heading out of the gate.
There is one subject however that we forgot to address and that is; what kind of jacking system do you use to change a tire should one blow, or just as part of an annual rotation?
Any advice would be appreciated. We have a 28', 2014 Denali 289RK, dry weight indicated as 7,400lbs. Fully loaded but dry, we estimate another 1,000lbs max.

Here is what I have. Can find the same or close to it at Walmart or Northern Tool to name a few.
20 Ton Low Profile Hydraulic Bottle Jack
A 12 ton would be fine but this was on sale so that's what I got. Have used it when I was swapping tires & wheels between my Teton & Voltage

For lightweight and easy to carry this works great on tandem axle trailers...

I use a Floor Jack at home, but on trips I use a large bottle Jack, some other guys have used blocks to drive one of the wheels onto, leaving the 2nd wheel off the ground. What ever you use, make sure you block the other side, so it won't move....also make sure the ground is not soft on the side you are lifting

A good ole bottle jack works great, just make sure you have some type of blocks to get it up in the air, I use these

With Goodyear Marathons on the two Jayco trailers I owned my Trailer-Aid came in mighty handy. I also used it on my Torque that had tandem Dexter axles. I've never tried or had to use it on my triple axle Voltage.
I did notice a considerable drop between the axles on the Voltage when I replaced my tires.
Could you block it up to get the extra height needed?

Does your new trailer have Lippert hydraulic jacks for leveling?
I've found by mistake sort of, that I can raise the three jacks on one side and get that side's three tires off the ground far enough to change a tire with no problem.
Yup, I carry a bottle jack and several sections of 2x10 with me in the truck.

I use to carry a device similar to that on my triple axle trailer. I never had to use it, but I did finally notice that it would NOT fit between tires to lift from the center axle. I just carry a bottle jack and have AAA.

I got two scissor jacks from Harbor Freight. Haven't had to change a tire yet, but came in handy when the trailer tongue sank into too-soft ground and we had to jack it out. DH has appropriated one for the truck since it is way easier than the factory Dodge one.

Thanks for all the great information flolks!!! I will be getting a bottle jack and the plastic tandem ramp. We have a lot of blocking so with the two different jacking devices, we should be all set!
