Awning stopped working

My awning retract/extend just made a quiet clunk sound when I tried to open the awning. After much research the general consensus was a bad motor.
Since nothing is cheap to replace on an RV I thought I'd play with it first.
I acquired the removal specs for the Dometic awning motor and followed them to a 'T'. After removing the motor I could not turn it by hand and applying power directly only resulted in the same clunk sound.
Instead of buying a new motor I took the old one to a local electric motor repair shop to have it looked at.
They took it apart and found that moisture had penetrated into the housing and caused the brake to corrode slightly- enough to stop it from releasing. They cleaned it up, resealed the housing and I had it out the door for 62 dollars.
I put everything back together again yesterday it everything works fine again!
