Anti-stiction fluid to LCI hydraulic systems???

I came across a FB Post regarding popping noise on a 2014 3895 with Hyd auto level. Apparentl it occurs in stong winds and while people are moving throughout. Turns out this seems to be a common complaint from other brands with 6pt hyd. They are being directed to a LCI Lipsheet 0295 that is recommending they add an anti-stiction fluid. We have experienced this problem during periods of extended stay, but have managed it through the use of rubber jack pads and kingpin jack. Interested in hearing your thoughts. Thanks.

roper,

I posted that link on FB off the Heartland Forum...

http://manuals.heartlandowners.org/m...%20Systems.pdf

There are extensive post there from many different owners that have used this solution to solve the level up popping. The consensus seems to be that the "audible disturbance" is caused by a change in temperature.

I haven't had that problem with my trailer, the only temperature in West Texas is "hot".

Just goes to show you how far and fast Internet can take something. I actually picked this up off of the "living the RV dream" Facebook group. There was a lady on there reporting the problem on a brand new 3895 and was getting to the point she was ready to sell the trailer because of it. Typical of some dealership service techs they were unable to give her any kind of a solution. Im going to give it a try. We have see the temp shifts and the popping that occurs, i guess it never bothered me much. Thanks for letting me know you posted this.

Well, added the CAT fluid. Side note. Check your fill levels. Mine was not to the fill line by a long shot fully retracted. So I did not take out the qt. After running it a few times it is set up in the driveway. I shook it and no more popping noise. Happy Days. Camping on Tuesday Beth page in Urbanna. She will get a good test then.
Thanks for the info Mike!

Thank the guy's over on the Heartland site... that's where I pulled it from, believe me they are willing to help any RV'ers no matter what brand they haul, and it's the same here.

I also finally found it on the Lippert site under the Customer Service FAQ's.

I haven't had any popping yet... but I'm sure I will.

Well. First night so far. Not one sound. Hydrolics are getting worked. Camp side tires off the ground about an inch and all is silenent. Cat product seemed to do the trick. I will report back if things change.

Where did you purchase the CAT fluid? Have not been able to find any.

Found it at peterbuiltparts.com. It was $25. Can't tell ya if that is expensive or not, I was not going to keep searching for couple dollars here or there. Hope it helps.

While we're on the topic of the level up system,
Would it be a good or bad idea to level up while in storage for an extended period...

Why or Why not???

My storage site is not exactly level and I would like to level up to avoid any tweaking on the frame but I'm also concerned about a leak down of the hydraulic system.

7 nights since and it's been quiet. If I were to do over I'd do it again for sure. Occasional noise with a lot of movement. But no laying in bed noise
