Anti-rocking device

Anyone use those scissor style jack devices that mount between the tires (in the vertical) that are supposed to prevent the trailer from rocking back and forth? I can get a set for $100. They worth the money? Thanks, JC

Re: Anti-rocking device

I had a set of those, and the face on them was so smooth that they did little or nothing to help stabilize the trailer.
I've also heard horror stories about newbies who have cranked these into the tires so hard that they have moved the trailer's axles and knocked them out of alignment.....not good trying to get THAT TT home.
There is a good post here on making your own between the tire chocks, and if you do buy a set of those "X" style ones, I hope that they have changed the face of them to have some texture.....badly needed in the design. And, don't crank them down more then that which deflects the face of the tire just a little bit....
For us? I just carry a couple of light weight plastic under the tire chocks..... Kick them in front and back, and done.....lots faster and much lighter. Weight is your enemy when towing.....

Re: Anti-rocking device

Good call. I'll check the design when I get home and report back. But yeah, I am a bit of a gearhead and thought about the messing up the alignment thing and was hoping to not have to crank them too hard. I could also add something to the bottoms to mitigate the smoothness issue as well if it's a problem. Or, just return them and do the wheel chock method.

I use the X-Chocks and have never had an issue with them.

Re: Anti-rocking device

And the ones I bought have little nubs on the feet so should grip the tires well.

This is what I use. They work great & quite inexpensive.

Re: Anti-rocking device

One other issue....with the under the tire kick chocks, if you forget them when you pull out, no big deal......don't EVER forget the X chocks between the tires......leave the wrench on them sticking straight out so that you see them for sure on your pre-leaving walk around....
