I came across these in my favourite seller of obscure stuff. They are Made in Germany server fans and it seems there's a hockey sock full of them on various web stores.

Any body seen a 12-24 volt stepup transformer lately?
Step up transformers are old school, it's solid state these days. I have a few voltage boosters/increasers that will go from three volts to 24 at 1 amp plus with a heat sink.

Sundancer,
These fans running at 12V will still move at lot of air, but I would be nice to be able to increase it if the need arose.
Have you got a brand name for the boosters you have?

At work I use vicor DC-to-DC converters on a regular basis. That link is for a circuit board mount but they make lots of other packages for mounting. I think the one I selected above is rated at 5 amps constant output.
