My sister-inlaw is visiting & staying in or Voltage. She said there wasn't any hot water. I checked & was out of propane. I told her to switch over to electric & I went & filled the propane. Next morning she still said there was no hot water. I went out & both gas & electric switches were on. I saw a little light between the two switches that was on. Never noticed that light before. DSI FLT was between the light. Once I shut off both switches the light went off. Turned the gas switch back on & heard the gas come on. I have two questions. What would cause a DSI fault?
Why would a DSI fault cause it not to work on propane? My Teton has the same hot water heater. It has no DSI fault light.

This one stump me to. Heck I never had noticed that light there before. I have used it on elctric before with no problem. Have used it on electric & propane at the same time with no problem.

Direct Spark Ignition Fault. This light comes on when the heater attempts to start the burner on propane but fails. This indicates a safety lockout of the LP and you'll have to cycle power to it (flip the switch off then back on) to clear it. In your case it came on because you tried to light the burner but there was no gas supply. I'm not sure why the electric side didn't work with the fault light on though, I thought the systems were independent from each other. You should be able to replicate the fault light by trying to start the water heater on propane but leave the gas closed at the tank.

I'll have to try that out. I'm like you why didn't it work on the electric side?
