Awning -

I was not sure what thread to put this in. Perhaps it's a rather dumb question but I have not used this awning type before.

How do I get it to extend? I have unscrewd the knob on the back side of the pole. I see a lever at about eye level. I can not seem to get the thing to come free and extend out.

Can someone give me a hint lol?

Help us help you...

Tell us what RV you have... year, make, model, etc. Dutchmen makes lots of different RVs, with different components. Most of us have included thst info in our signature area so we don't have to type it each time.

Also, do you have a power awning, or manual?

I am going to "assume" you have a manual awning. Probably a Carefree.

There is a "switch" lever on the front end of the awning that has to be flipped to release the lock. Then you pull on the strap hanging down in the middle, pull the awning all the way out. Then you slide the arm braces up to the head of the awning, push on the roller tube a bit to tension it, then lock the arms in place. Then you can open the side levers and adjust the awning upwards.

Here is a Youtube video of the basics.

I finally got it out of winter storage and got around to looking at this again. It appears that somehow it was rolled up with the hanging cable dangling and that got wrapped around the forward end of the roller. That is why it won't unroll I am figuring. I will revert with more as soon as I get a ladder up and check it out.

There is a lock or switch on one of the arms, some you just push up or down, then you can pull the strap
