Tried out my air conditioner this weekend at 6300' elevation and mid 80's Fahrenheit temperature. It fired up and ran fine. I hopped in the shower and the trailer was considerably cooler when I got out and the AC was still running. But then I noted a couple of what I suppose I would describe as "brown outs". The AC and fan would shut down briefly, then start back up. It seemed to start up again just fine, but I shut the whole setup down after it did this a couple times. I did not have the Killawatt plugged in so I don't know what kind of draw was being pulled. I would suspect this behavior is more a function of the generator power derating due high elevation than anything related to the Microair. But it is an interesting data point. The generator is a Yamaha 2400.

You have an easy start capacitor added? I have the 2400 and 2 of the 2000's for parallel.

I always liked using the 2400 better. It's been a solid generator for about 3 years.

But this new RV doesn't have one of those magic capacitors. Gotta get me one.

I dumped the hard start capacitor when I installed the Microair. I installed the hard start capacitor essentially from the get go, so I can't really say if it helped the generator start it or not. Then gen could start before the cap and also after the cap, but that was at home at ~4400' elevation and cool temperatures. Hot temps and it was unreliable.

Oh, my bad. Didn't realize what microair was.

Sorry about that

Just watched the 24 minute video on the easy-start (micro air)

That's impressive!

I assume you did the 6-learning-starts with the intervals in between?

They claim just ONE of my little 2000's can run the AC. And from eco-mode.

If that's true, simply amazing.

Waiting to here you get this sorted and with claimed results!

Good luck

Snake,
I think the results I've been reporting are that it works as advertised. A few weekends ago we camped in relative comfort in mid 90's weather with AC going all day. That could have never happened before. But the higher the altitude, the less oxygen available for the engine to produce power. So the gen will struggle with large loads and that's what I think was happening last weekend. Not microair related is my guess.

That's actually good news to my ears. I've further read up on this clever electronic soft-start (last night) and am looking forward to deploying it on the RV I travel with. I consider it a boondocking tool!

I'm currently at 8000 feet and in zero need of AC, ironically, with full hookups. (how do they do that on TOP of a mountain? Lol)

Again, thanks for the education!

What a view from INSIDE! 64F, quiet solitude.
