Valterra vs. Bristol Waste Valve

Just an FYI on the waste valves. Having mine replaced under extended warranty due to leaking and sticking. Service guy says Valterra didn't fit (bolt pattern) even though he called Dutchmen who said that's what is installed? After he removed the valve, it turns out they are Bristol valves. So if anyone is replacing theirs, just a heads up. Electric valves next time!

I have Bristol on my current rig... not impressed. I have a total of 4 3 gray tank valves and one black. One or two of the gray leak a bit, electric upgrades are on the list.

Cables on the Bristol are not as good as Valterra. Sadly, without major modification, I'm stuck replacing the Bristols with OEM.

Or go electric and be done with the issues... That is my game plan!

Valve replacement las sale Bristol to valterra

Just spent the day changing two valve with cables, main black and shower grey on my 2014 Voltage 3600. What fun...the originals were the Lasalle Bristol a 96" cable on the black tank and I think they put a 96"on the grey tooo...Anyways, installed Valterra with cables (if we have to change agaiin since it was the handle that broke off on the black tank cable and the grey tank cable also was no longer tight enough to close the valve so both were leaking). Both fit nicely, I had looked and the 3" are interchangeable.

Just a quick note, if you go to change the grey tank valve you're going to have to find a way to loosen the piping so it will come out and the new will go in. We had to undo the black tank valve bracket (we were changin it also) and also the supports holding the discharge pipe.

Hmm. Ironically it was the grey tank rear that he started with and was having trouble with. Maybe that was the issue and the Valterra's will switch out fine on the others. Rest assured, electrics are in the plans once I convince Aaron to come out and put them on for me. LOL.
