Fresh water tank filling

Ok, I tried out my water pump last trip just to make everything worked. I found it odd that the fill valve was some giant opening, I had to pinch off a garden hose, walk over there and hold the hose while filling the tank. Is there an adapter, did a search and couldn't find one.

Thanks. Strange that they don't make it so you can hook a water hose to it. Do these guys think I have unlimited storage space for these needless accessories.

Maybe, in their infinite wisdom, they didn't install a garden hose connection so one wouldn't attach a garden hose, turn it on, go inside for a cuppa joe and forget the running water going into the tank faster than the overflow could handle thereby engorging the fresh water tank and possibly blowing the bottom out of it.

That's my SWAG on it

I guess if you build your rv's like a 5 year old would, you should treat your customers the same way.

They did make one that way it's a Teton. I've camped at NP & boondock sites were the only water was a faucet that had no hose connection or you couldn't get you rig close to refill with a hose. So the setup you now have you can fill your water tank with a 5 gal water can at one of those sites

All other RV's I've owned have need the adaptor that's referred to.

Yes, when we boondock in addition to heading out with a full tank of water we carry 5 gallon water jugs. We can then run into town with the jugs, fill them up and pour them into the camper.

Aha, that makes sense. Since I live within 2 hours of 30+ campgrounds, boondocking will probably never happen. Makes sense now.

The fresh water tank is not a pressurized system. The fill tube is also a vent tube, and the connectors are not rated for any pressure. Besides, you want to pour things into it, like bleach every now and then, to freshen the tank. Followed, of course by several rinses. After the water is pumped, then it is pressurized, and on a footing with city water. Separated by check valves.
