does this look right?

Hi all,
I recently bought a 2012 dutchman 185e expandable brand new from dealer. However I have an issue with the sewer dump plumbing, The way it is setup it is impossible to isolate the black water and just dump the grey. The dealer tells me this is correct but I have looked at a bunch of other campers and they all have an option to dump grey water only. Gonna throw a couple pics on cause I'm thinking that somebody changed the plumbing a bit before I bought it, maybe a accident at dealer, cause it looks like there is fresh black paint spray painted around bracket.Any one able to tell me if this is the correct setup? If you notice there is only 1 2"valve for the grey and the valve on the 3' line where hose connects, thats it. makes it impossible to dump they grey without dumping all of the black also, thereby losing all your chemical, seems like a bad idea to me as we all know how fast your grey fills in comparison to the black

Thx in advance

Re: does this look right?

No its not right! By just looking at the picture something did get damaged 'cause they used black paint like you said. A lot of people keep their grey tank gate open at the campsite but you could not do this, this set-up makes no sense at all. I would take it back and tell them that your not stupid and you know that its not right, that damage was done and covered up and it needs to be fixed right or you will call the manufacture! I don't think they(manufacture) will be impressed!

Yeah, something was changed, modi, or otherwise incorrectly fixed.

Re: does this look right?

The gate valve that is on there now is not OEM. That valve is on plumbing that is deisgnated only as black OR grey water (like on some trailers that have multiple grey tanks). To me you should have 2 valves on that outlet. And the fresh paint would tell me something has been changed.

Re: does this look right?

Garryf.....I think your right that some one modified the plumbing set up..as this set up doesn't look right. You may want to check others of the same type but first give the dealer a call.

Good luck

Re: does this look right?

I got this picture of a 2012 Dutchmen 185E off the web. The drain outlet sure doesn't look like yours...

Re: does this look right?

My old trailer had the drain valves ripped off when I was backing into the yard one night - a garden hose was draped in a holly bush, got wrapped around the drain valve, and pulled it off, leaving half the pipe from the grey tank there and a big hole in the black tank where the pipe used to be. I took it to the local big chain RV place, took them about 6 weeks (and $1200) to repair. I went to pick it up - they made it look exactly like this. I had no choice but to take it on one trip, but I made them change it back when I got home.

When I called them from my house to tell them what they had done, the idiot on the phone said "My manual tells me to have the grey water open when you're dumping the black" - somehow he thought that made it rational.
