Winter battery MX

Do you need a special battery maintenance charger for deep cycle batteries or will any battery maintenance charger work. I'm asking because my regular battery charger has a separate deep cycle mode.

I use a multi-bank Battery Tender and no issues thus far. Just if you pull them out, use care NOT to set them on concrete - I set them on a 2x8 and connect up for the winter after checking water levels.

I agree, though many tell me that a battery going dead on concrete is an old wive's tale. I've seen it; I believe it! Always put them on wood or plastic.

I use to have a Coleman PUP and the battery absolutely would discharge on concrete. I learned that one pretty quick. I'm not sure why but it definitely does.

The dampness causes a low draw circuit, which will pull the battery down. If the battery is completely dry and the concrete is completely dry it won't pull it down. But that is a very rare condition. A grungy battery will self discharge quicker than a clean one.
