Problems with Onan generator...

Last weekend we had a major rzr ride in Tenn. We were there for 4 days and gave up our campsite so we could go primitive.

The generator (Onan 7000) would run for 5-8 hours and shut off. When you restart it, it would flash quickly and when you counted the flashes, it was code 45. (I forgot what the manual said it was)

It would run all night and shut off in the morning, I thought it was running hot so I took the cover off but I don't think it made any difference.

Anyone run into this? I called the tech support dept. and they told me to measure the continuity behind the switch.

I haven't had a chance to do so since I left the trailer in Tenn. because we have a ride coming up this weekend.

Suggestions or ideas?

Mark

Crush, I googled to see what a 45 error code was and found this link with very specific details on how to troubleshoot...

Thanks HT,

What you linked was exactly what the tech rep told me. I just hadn't had a chance to check it out yet.

I will have to check out the rest of the link that says about cleaning where the brushes go.

I tried to look up the code while I was in Tenn. but cell phone reception is sketchy at best.

Thanks again!! Much appreciated!!
