onan usage hours

Hi all. Really like this forum.
I guess I have an opinion question.
Bought a lightly used 3305 a month ago. Never even got it out for a shakedown yet!!!!! Boys hockey, birthdays, etc... next weekend for sure.
The genset had 191 hours on it. This seems low to me?
What do you think?
Thanks

It wouldn't surprise me with a "lightly used" rig that the gen set has only 191 hours on it.

I have seen a lot of units that were bought with the intention of using them, only to see then on the market a year or two down the road.

It would not surprise me either. I looked at a 10 year old diesel pusher the other night that only had 170 or so hours on it. When I asked them about it, they said they almost never used it, just ran it once a month for an hour or so. No clue what the expected life span is on the Onan. I have seen a few with 600-800 hours on them that were still chugging along.

Have had my rig over 2 years now... think I have 3 hours on the generator. I'm not much of a boondocker.

Had mine just over a year 158 hours. These units should go to roughly 7 to 10 thousand hours with maintenance and proper service.

Wow! I would have guessed in the 4-5k hour range. I have a portable Honda construction grade that has a bit over 5,000 hours on the hour meter and it is starting to show it's age.

I completely agree. My FIL has a Generac 10k that I have to tear down and clean because he bought it 5 years ago and hasn't run it in over 3.
