Mystery switch

Hi, new member
I have a 2008 D Monte Vista. This concerns the outside light switches. On the control panel there is a gang of three switches. Two of the switches control the outside lights on the side of the 5th wheel. The first switch on the left does not seem to control anything that I can find.

When you flip the outside light switches do all the outside lights come on? Maybe the mystery switch controls a light in a compartment or perhaps a stair light.

Kind of tried that. Was unable to locate any lights that could not be turned on by themselves and flipping the switch made no difference.

Well then, I'd pull the switch out of its socket and see if it's connected.

We don't know if you're the original owner and if you aren't, the previous could have done whatever with the switch.

Maybe it's just filling the hole or maybe whatever it controlled is no longer in use.

Its connected to something and yes I am the second owner. I will check with the local RV dealer next time I am in the area and/or will pull the panel and try to follow the wiring. Hmmm, that's what retired guys do

I have 3 switches as well
1 for the outside lights
1 for the lights about sink
1 for the cabin light above the door inside, but the switch on the light has to be on as well

Thanks for all the input, problem solved. It is connected to an outside stair light. Took a while to find. The light had its own switch on the fixture (broken) and the bulb was burned out. So trial and error and luck, now fixed.
Comment: the dealer was of no value, wouldn't even get out of his comfy chair to check a manual. Dutchmen is now owned by Keystone. They claim to have no info on Dutchmen older products. I guess they burned all the old manuals and spec books and no longer have any Dutchmen employees that they could ask. but then, they would have to get out of their comfortable chairs and pretend they are breathing.

The manuals are notoriously generic. They (many manufacturers) churn out so many models they can't keep track of them, much less the individual features of them. If you are lucky you will get a unit where everything works, otherwise you are pretty much on your own to figure things out.

No problem. It is rare to see a person who actually has a problem with their meticulously engineered, finely appointed, expertly assembled rigs.
