Tried to hook up a TV to the DVD/radio in the camper the other day and of course newer tv's do not have audio L&R and yellow video. So I go to use the component out source from the dvd player to the tv and absolutely no signal comes through?? Any ideas why this would not work.
BTW I checked and rechecked the cables for the correct locations.
Thanks,

Yep. TV has settings for antenna, cable and component.
wait I just found an owners manual online. Looks like I have to have s-video or run the coaxial line as well as the component. I thought that component had video built into its signal??

S video will provide the video of course, coax will provide audio and video. Component is red, white for audio and yellow for video which you say was connected to the DVD so I don't understand where you stuck these three RCA connections.

I thought component was that seldom-used, three-color video coax which does not contain the sound. (not the traditional red-white-yellow) It was, for a while, considered to be the step-up from S-video, and of course, a predecessor to HDMI, the only video carrier to date that DOES include the sound. (Just looked it up, it is COMPOSITE, not component, that uses the red-white for sound, and yellow for video.) To me, Component is useless
That is what I have found out with component. and component is Red and white for audio then there is another red, green and blue. 5 connections all together.
I think I am just going to update the head unit in the camper to something nicer that will still hook up to the existing speakers. It is just a COBY that is in there so not a huge name for electronics more of one of the "dime a dozen" types.
