Disconnecting generator power

I'm going to be doing an oil change on my Onan generator (2012 Voltage 5th wheel toy hauler). I don't want to disconnect my shore power if I don't have to, so can I turn off the generator's output circuit breakers and effectively prevent powering the RV while I run the generator (and thus not do any damage).
Thanks!

Sure, the circuit breakers will do the trick. Even if you didn't throw the breakers the transfer switch should/would do the switching for you.

I'm confused? Why would your generator fire up while you're on shore power while changing the oil? Just want to know.

Pretty sure he just wants to run the genset a little while to warm up the oil before pulling the drain plug... although, I could be wrong.
