Cable issues

Running coaxial to the trailer's jack gets me no where. I have to run the cable to the exterior jack on the slide on the opposite side of the trailer. Why isn't the signal getting to the tv when I use the designated jack?

Well, the cable may not be connected to a splitter or a coax connecter could be bad or there isn't a splitter or or or or ......

Make and model of your RV would be helpful for us to help you.

Hi Micksue, welcome to the forums! (Sundancer forgot his manners )

Several possibilities. Substandard splitter is a common problem, as are not connected cables, or misconnected cables. I am not familiar with your particular unit so hopefully someone that has one can chime in.

Best bet is to try and track the cables to see where they go. A signal feed generator with the coax adapter might prove helpful in this situation. Typically the splitters are hidden in the walls behind the wall plates where the TV's are hooked up. Though they can be anywhere.

Another thought... is your trailer pre-wired for satellite? A lot of units I have seen have two different jacks. One for satellite and one for park cable. Sometimes they share a dual box cover, other times they are totally separate.

Let us know what you find out.

Then there are times when you have a separate hookup for Satelite and they don't bother to hook it up.

Drove me crazier than I already am trying to figure out why I couldn't get a sat signal. I only found the problem when I installed the surge protector found they just left the sat cable laying on the floor.
