Camping & Biking in California

We'll have 2 weeks at Christmas to get from the Seattle area into California ( or somewhere similar where we can enjoy warmer, drier weather). We're bringing our tandem bicycle and are looking for camping and biking suggestions for the central CA area. Any input/suggestions will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Peter, we are just wrapping up a 6 week road trip From Colorado out to and down the Central and Southern Coast of California. We are very avid cyclist's so did a ton of road riding along the way.
If you do not have a Strava account I'd suggest getting a free one. You can then use the free search function for the town you are visiting and look at the maps.

San Francisco: Rapha Cycles- They have group rides but also if you swing by the store they have free cue sheets for all the rides they do.

We stayed at the San Francisco RV Resort. It's about 15 minutes South of the City in Pacifica. It's "OK", the location is great but the facility itself I'd give maybe a 6 or 7. Next time we are going to look at Campgrounds North of the City.
Santa Cruzid a nice ride up the coast: Bike Ride Profile | 34 miles near Santa Cruz | Times and Records | Strava
Camping we stayed at the Santa Cruz Harbor RV Park. It's a pretty small RV park, nothing special but in a great location.
We also did a few nights at the Constanoa RV resort just North of Santa Cruz. Wonderful Campground and great riding in either direction on US 1. Hit the US1 Brewery nearby if you like beer.
Monterey: Stayed at the Monterey County Fairgrounds.
17 mile drive is a must bike of course! Did 2 great rides there
17 Mile Drive- Bike Ride Profile | Group ride Monterey, California near Monterey | Times and Records | Strava
Laguna Seca, Ft Ord - Bike Ride Profile | Tuesday group ride Monterey, California near Monterey | Times and Records | Strava
San Luis Abospo- Stayed at Avila Beach, great spot but first come first serve.
Ride: Bike Ride Profile | 25 miles near San Luis Obispo | Times and Records | Strava
Pismo Beach- This is the only camping we did with no hook ups. It's at the Oceano Dunes OHV area and you just drive out on the beach and camp where you want for $10/night. I'd suggest this on weekdays, weekends get crazy.
Carpinteria, Stayed at Carpenteria State Beach. Great Spot!
Ride:Bike Ride Profile | HOLY RAIN!! Carpinteria, California near Carpinteria | Times and Records | Strava
In Ventura we camped on the Rincon Parkway: No hook ups
Ride: Bike Ride Profile | Daylight savings SUCKS! Ventura, California near Ventura | Times and Records | Strava
Have fun!
