You may be eligible for a new Dometic AC unit

Just got off the phone with my mecahnic, and he said a new 15,000btu Brisk Air 2 is being shipped from Dometic as we speak. He said they have been replacing units left and right lately. I think he said the wrong freon was used causing corrosion in the evap coil and leading to leaks.

It seems that dometic is owning up to it and replacing these units. I was also told that because I registered my ac unit, that it has a 2 year factory warranty, i'm 3 weeks past my year and am getting this at no charge. So if you're having ac problems (lack of cooling and freezing) I would call your dealer.

I love Newby's RV sales in Mcminnville TN!

Where did you get your leak at? While packing up yesterday, my wife found we had gotten a lot of water in the upper bunk bed, which would be the left hand side of the trailer, at the rear. Have to call the dealer to get it up there to figure out who, what, when, where and WHY! Thank you!

Ours was condensating right of the actual unit, there's a "flood" vent on the ceiling that if you shut, it would start raining.

I leave that shut now with no issues.

Yours sounds like a roof leak.

Hopefully it's something simple.

I just got off the phone with Dometic. At first the lady on the phone denied any problems but eventually relented that there are problems with the AC units. I asked if she could tell me the manufacturing date range for the affected units and she said she couldn't give me that info. She was very unhelpful and was the second person I talked with. They both basically said if you have an issue take it too a dealer. I called two times and got the same runaround. I bought my unit in July of 2014 so it's still within the warranty period. Since we usually boondock I've probably have run the ac around 10 hours total. I don't want to get three years down the road and have a problem because I didn't run it often enough for it to break.

Any suggestions.

Run it as much as possible. Ours didn't take long to go south. Even if it's 70outside, run it at 65. The only clue I had wad dripping from the main unit vent. If you have ducts, shut that vent off.

I keep it at a storage lot and we are done camping for the year. My plan next summer is to camp at places that have electricity hookups. I'll have to wait till then to work on your suggestion. Thanks

What model years do you all have and what model years have the bad units?
