Thank you all!

Thank you, to all my Dutchmen RV brothers and sisters, for all your well wishes after my foray close to the dark or light side last weekend, which ever side my maker sends me to.

And thank you for listening to the ramblings of an old man.

No, thank YOU for being the kind of fella around here that you are.

I've only been around a few short months, but it quickly becomes clear why this is not the typical forum. (I'm a multiple forum participator for many of my passions in life)

For whatever reason, this forum, for the most part, has an old-school gentlemanly helpful flavor to it. Emphasis on gentlemanly. And you sir, are very much a part of the reason why.

Hope you're recovering well Jim. I concur with the other guys, you have been nothing but courteous and helpful with me and my beginner questions. That goes a long way in inspiring good conversation, especially with newcomers. Good forum.

Hope you & Tom both get back to 100% soon. As far as being a old man I think some of us on this forum have you beat.

Oh, you guy's. Your gonna make me cry, just like when DW broke my nose.

I love this forum for many reasons, none more than for the folks here. When a and newbie comes along and has a problem that I've lived, I like to share, often times with a bit of selfdepricating humor, what happened to me and how I fixed, what I broke.

I love that there are so many folks who have had similar experiences and what they did to fix it. This old dog loves learning new tricks and I've learned many new tricks from the young pups and the old dogs with all the grey whiskers.

I love how we can have differences of opinion, fight about it on line and move on and still be freinds. Sometimes I am pretty blunt about my position, always have been, always will be, nobody has to guess where they stand with me. I've had to PM a few folks to say I'm sorry because I felt I had wronged them.

But the thing I really like, I'm part of the club, just like when your a rider. Doesn't matter where you come from, what you do, how much money you have, your just one of the guy's. The popup folks are treated the say way as the Class A guys.

From a kid that grew up on the wrong side of tracks, who kicked and clawed his way along with his soulmate of close to fifty years, I'm treated just like everyone else on the forum.

So thank you all again.

DesertRat,

Right now I sitting on top off the world, but I know I'll be back with both feet planted firmly on the ground soon. And that's OK I know that I will be looking at life differently now and enjoying life more.

I wish I would have been in a position, to offer Tom some help to get back to where he needs to be.

I'm sure there's lots of folks here that have more grey whiskers than I do, but I wear each and every one of them with pride. I either bought and paid for them or earned them the hard way.

And besides, the more grey whiskers you the slack people cut you.

Don't know if it is true or not, but around here I actually get the feeling I'm YOUNG! (I ain't)

Kinda like the other day I was at the Deli section of Kroger having some Cajun-Roast-Beef sliced up. I said something about being old to the nice lady doing the cutting and heard someone behind me lightly hmphhhh.

Turned to see a tall slender gentleman that was older than myself, but not by THAT much.

I bravely asked the question. "So, I guess I'm not that old from where you are standing? How much ya got me beat by?"

I'm 97, was his response.

Frank did NOT look 97. And he has a healthy handshake to go along with strong body posture.

So yea, it's all relative.

Oh, by the way, I did NOT say any of you old coots here are 97.

Snake,

OK, I give up, I'm not old, I'm just a geezer. A geezer is definded as someone who has reached the final hurrdle in life and is in receipt of all of the social benefits that our SIN taxes are supposed to provide. Finally reached retirement and move on to retirement, leave the job for some young go getter that's starting out in life to fill.

As usual my Loki personality rose to the top when we were in town shopping for a new car for DW. (happy to say, I'm glad she's back to the lightside and bought a Blue Oval) Well I stopped at the local adult beverage store. While waiting for the guy in front of me to complete his transaction, which was taking an abnormal amount of time.

Young lady (late 30'-mid 40's, young enough to be my daughter) walks up carring a six-pack of Coors, so as I'm pushing my purchase forward so she could put her sixer on the counter. Loki jumps into my head and says "go on see what you can get away with it." I say to her, "go ahead, you can put your Coors on the counter, just don't let it touch my nice bottle of Bourbon."

Let's just say she was a gamer and jump in with both feet and the teasing and flirting begins. I got away with everything I figured a guy with all them grey whiskers could get away with.

Well she got the last laugh, out comes the big finale, I'm about to leave so I turn to her and start with my tagline. By the time I hit going no where fast, I hear this echo, "going everywhere slow". Uh, you heard that before, huh.

Seems her granddaddy used the same tagline when she was a toodler. Crap, ballon popped, shoulders droop, turn with my tail between my legs and shuffle my way out. Now I have to find a new tagline.

Old man, OK no, but old geezer and general allround class clown. But I've still got the "best job" I've ever had, sometimes I PO the boss, but I know to run when I see those little whiffs of smoke comin' out the ears.

I have no problem getting old, as long as I die the day after I write that I write for a million dollars bounces.

Maybe it's just that I feel like I'm 120 years old and I've got the brains an 18 year old.

I forget about that most of the time, I guess I need to pull out my Texas Star "forget the BS what's the discount" and start wearing it again. It comes in handy when we is shopping for vehicles. I point it out to the salesman tell him to disappear and come back in 10 minutes, if we have questions we'll ask then.

Them special senior discount days are a lost cause on us, I don't think I've ever seen two of them on the same day in the same
