It has been many years. And I don't recall any official camp grounds there.
But Texas has my favorite beaches for camping or any activity. Why you ask?
Because 90% of Texas beaches are public property open to the public. You can drive almost everywhere.

PADRE ISLAND is my favorite. 4x4 is necessary. Drive. FIND. PARK. CAMP. NO ONE FOR MILES!
I miss Texas beaches.
Have fun.

Thanks! I’m concerned about bringing my 30 ft TT on the beach despite having a 4x4 TV. Follett island and high island seem to have hard packed sand, but there are conflicting reports.

I have done a lot of beach driving and camping. It basically amounts to the tides and the distance between water and the dunes
Try it at the wrong time and no fun. I would check on low tides and try to do your ingress and egress at low tide.
Worse case, someone is always around with a 4x4 to help. I have towed countless vehicles out of the sand. And a couple out of the surf.
Have fun!

These beach boondocking opportunities look great, but I’m also tempted to just get a campsite in one of the campgrounds to avoid trouble.

Plans for this season
Good evening to all- I'm a new guy on this forum. We just got our new- to us- Coleman travel trailer, and we're just about ready to tow it to our lot at Port St. Joe, Florida. That's about all the travelling we do with a camper- from home to lot.
We stay there most of the summer and much of the fall. this new trailer replaces the travel trailer we formerly had on the lot. We learned from Hurricane Michael last October and its 6 foot storm surge that travel trailers don't float well at all.
I'm looking forward to getting back to our lot and watching the eagles fly over and catching some big redfish.
good evening to all, and I hope to talk with you all on this forum from time to time.
Good camping- Ed

Malibu
Malibu Memorial Day weekend in one of the World’s most photographed places. If you haven’t seen this place on TV/movies, you haven’t been paying attention.

First stop of epic summer adventure- rest stop Las Cruces, NM after an insane day on the road getting up Ofer the mountains only to find in the desert 108+ degrees and desert a monsoon

New Orleans
French Quarter RV in New Orleans - if you want to stay in the French Quarter or warehousing district (WWII museum) or near the superdome this is the place! If you can walk, you can walk everywhere! No Uber, no parking fees! Yes, this is more $$, but you get sooo much! Swimming pool and jacuzzi, large clean sites, great bathrooms, laundry, friendly staff and you never have to use your vehicle once you are here!
Walked to cafe du mondo this morning and the Mississippi River, then WWII museum, back to the French Qtr, Johnny’s po-boys, back to camp to swim and start happy hour. Then a short walk to the cemetery.

We are heading to Galveston TX in a few weeks for a long weekend. We just got back from Broken Bow, OK and it was beautiful. If in the area stay at Hochatown RV Park near the entrance to Beavers Bend State Park.
