With the Daytona 500 on the TV and snow coming down out-side, to say I'm ready to camp is an understatement. Unfortunately, my TT is in winter indoor storage and won't by out until the end of March. Until then, I can only dream about camping. Hoping to make our way to Austin TX and Door County WI is summer, with a small detour to SE Ohio for the Masonic Camping Travelers National Rally.

Just some of the plans, Bodega Bay this month for CRAB, Death Valley in April still not overly hot. Dunsmiur 4th of July and then head out someplace from there. Not sure yet. In the Fall hopefully back to Navajo country again.

If your plans call for beach camping might want to check tide tables or ask the locals. Not my RV. Hope it is not yours.

...oopssies!

Think we'll head up to Boone next month. When we were there in January, the river had 1" of ice on it. Not much fly fishing then. Since the RV is up there stored at Grandfather, going to bring the MINI up there and have some driving fun on the parkway and mountain roads.

For any of you wondering... the south Texas weather has finally improved. Currently in Portland (just across the bay from Corpus Christi) and we're consistantly back in the 70's during the day. Lit my first evening campfire of the season over the weekend.

Gonna be here thru the end of March, then moving over to Lake Livingston (north of Houston) for the month of April, before heading west in May.

Having traveled so much during the past 3-4 years, and seen most of the places I wanted to see... think i'm just gonna settle in one place for a few months. I do it during the winter, so why not the summer? Then the question became... ok, now where?

A number of locations I liked were considered, with various factors such as scenery, activities, and the availability of conveniences within a reasonable distance figured in... along with the cost & quality of available campgrounds in said area. Some locations were more desired, but campground quality left something to be desired (small sites, cleanliness, etc)... while others had nice RV parks, but the nearest good grocery store was over an hour away. Remoteness is great when you're looking to "get away" on vacation, but not so much for long term stays.

Anyway, I decided on the Yellowstone area... and as such, I've made reservations on the east side in Cody, WY. I'll be arriving just before Memorial Day, and departing just after Labor Day. Plenty of time to relax, enjoy various parts of the park 2 or 3 times/week, and have everything I may need within a reasonable distance.

Of course, all of that is subject to change if I get a wild hair to go do something different. But that's the plan for now.
That sounds frickin' amazing!

Soccer responsibilities (for the daughter) start soon and extend through May. I’m looking desperately at the weekends to see if there is time to get out for a couple of nights in April … just to get out and stretch my legs. Then, the reason I bought my trailer, starts festival season. Memorial Day will be my first ‘official’ outing. I’ll probably be out 6 weekends from Memorial Day through Labor Day for that purpose. No place “fun and exciting” … but I enjoy myself nonetheless. Sometimes I’ll be at a campground, sometimes I’ll be in a field, at least one time I’ll be in a parking lot (with permission). After Labor Day starts the marching band season … for which I do a lot of volunteer work (and reduces my outings to nil).

Icing on the cake??

A few weeks ago my 16 year old daughter mentioned that she wants to go on a camping trip with me, just the two of us, again like we did last year. Just a couple nights in a local state forest with lots of hiking trails. My heart about exploded. That trip will be in June before her summer explodes with work and marching band responsibilities.

Fun times!

Safe travels all!
