Slide out problems in 3805

Our living room slide moves out for a few seconds then we hear a kind of grinding noise and it stops. It has a cable pulley system. Anyone else have this problem or know what might be causing it?

Check for obstructions

I would start simple and make sure nothing is obstructing the slide out.

Your gearbox is stripped... happened twice to us on a 2015 3800. Go to Dyers Rv online and order a new gearbox, I posted a long explanation here a couple of weeks back with pics of the gearbox. The motor and gearbox is on top of the slide in the middle. You can have someone push/pull the slide while holding the button and it should work till you get it fixed...

I think the gearbox is about to fail. Ours had grinding sound a couple times then failed. Gearbox failure is common enough that most rv stores carry them. Not a big deal if your handy, you'll burn up a day, or take it in for repair, don't wait and get it stuck out.
