Rv Deadbolt cylinder recall!!!

Here is a link to the Recall Page .

Take a look at your keys AND test them in the door locks. If you can remove the key in the 9 O'clock it is bad no matter what the number.

There is a youtube video on how to change the cylinder it looks way to easy to involve a dealer.

We know that our front door lock is affected and think our back door is affected but need to test it to make sure.

Love the trailer, hate the dealer and manufacturer.

My door is also affected. Thank you for the heads up!

The survey was completed and a voice message was left at the company.

Thank you memgrove for the recall notice. I checked my keys today and my locks are affected by the recall and i'll be calling tomorrow for replacements. DW and I have had trouble with these locks as the key came out in the 9 o'clock position making it hard to unlock the next time. In fact it got to the point where we only locked one cylinder cutting down the number of lock combinations.

Did the survey. Left a phone message two days ago after 5pm Eastern Time, and no response.

Just got off the phone to a person today at 4:30pm. They did not have knowledge of the message, but are sending the replacement cylinder kit out. So, a phone call before 5pm is probably best.

She said all they request is that we send them the old cylinder in the provided envelope and that there were instructions included in the kit.

Asked if this was something a dealer should be taking care of, and the response was that it is really not a dealer issue.

In my world, Monday was not a holiday Never occurred to me that one might be celebrating Columbus Day/Thanksgiving. I'm a state employee - our next holiday after Labor Day will be Veteran's Day. Still think calling before 5pm would be wise.

Well Garcia - it isn't a holiday in my world either - everyday is a holiday, as we are retired but still work when we want to, which is actually more than less!

We live in an area where winter could arrive as early as November and snow does not melt until early May!
So working is what we do to make the time pass quickly!

We are not snowbirds who head south for the winter - as our kids & grandkids are snowmobilers and guess who's home they crash in!

So when they send out the new lock does it come with a new key as well??

If so then it's two keys for one door?

That crossed my mind as well. I'm hoping because the keys are numbered that they are also the same key pattern and I won't have to go out and get new keys cut - both DW and I carry a complete set and we carry a set in the tow vehicle (would hate to get all the way out to the lake and have the camper keys sitting on the kitchen table back in Regina).

Somehow I managed to be one of the lucky ones. None of my door locks are affected by this. Also I love how the key number is stamped into the lock on my pack and play door. Real secure...

I guess reading the recall page would have answered that question for me

Quote:
What are we doing about the problem? If your lock is affected by this recall, you will receive a new set of lock cylinders for both the deadbolt lock and the exterior paddle handle at no cost, along with information as to how to remove and replace the cylinders. A prepaid return shipping package will also be provided so that the affected cylinders and keys can be returned to Fastec.

The best part of this recall is I was able to request the key code to match my pack and play door!! One key fits all now!

5th wheel hitch type?

Hi, new member question. I have an 06 F250 crew cab with a 6.75ft bed. I'm picking up my new fifth wheel Voltage in a few weeks, do I need a sliding type hitch?

Nothing here yet either in Regina. I just looked back and I made my call on October 14th. Hopefully the locks will show up here before the snow comes .

Doc

Just a thought here.

How safe will our units be with all of those blue cylinder removal keys out there? Will they work on any lock? Will they work more than once? Do you have to return them and if so, what happens if you don't? Call me what you will but it is a different world we live in.

I suspect that not all unit owners are honest.

My two new cylinders and keys arrived today and I was successful at making the change. Had a little trouble getting the new cylinders in as you have to get them lined up just right.
