Motor home blows tire, flips

I know this isn't Dutchmen related, but this happened in my neck of the woods earlier today. Just a reminder of how quickly things can go wrong. Safe travels to everyone here.

I was thinking the same. He was passing the 18-wheeler with the dash cam at a pretty good pace.

Not sure that 10-15 mph would have made too much of a difference in the outcome. The results of a front tire blowout in a motorhome is usually never pretty.

For those who have not seen the video on how to handle a tire blowout by Michelin, it is worth the 10 minutes of your time. I tried to upload it without success. It is on YouTube or just Google Michelin RV tire blowout.

Oddly, the video of the accident doesn't reflect the Michelin educational video. Michelin demonstrates that the RV will tend to veer to the direction of the blown tire. In the accident video you can see the passenger side tire blow, but the RV darts to the left. Possible too much over correction?

I'm not sure that it was the passenger side tire that blew. Anybody know for sure?

I had assumed it was the driver side. Sinecure stated you could see it was the passenger side tire. I watched the video a couple more times and he is correct. You can defiantly see the sudden loss of air pressure in the passenger side front tire.

Good catch ...I just assumed it was driver's side due to the veering to the left.

Bummer keep trying to see video every site that I have found video won't download. From own personal experience higher speeds are very detrimental. Years ago hauling a 30 foot stock trailer full of horses coming into Albuquerque doing around 80+ lost passenger rear tire. Did everything right but at that speed it seemed Like an eternity to slow down. Of course tire was off the rim and Rim totally destroyed. Sure glad it wasn't a front tire. Just in the process of traveling from northern Nevada to grand junction Colorado. Wind is gusty and strong just another reasonto whoa it up a bit.
