Full Time Living How do you deal with....

Insurance, Mail, Car and RV registration.
And so much more.


My wife surprised me with.............."ya know, I could get into FULL TIME RVing"


WHAT!!!!!!!!!!


We just bought a small TT last November. Now we are thinking about UPGRADE


I am thinking you have to use some relatives or friends address.

But what might be the legal issues with that??


Any thoughts or comments would be appreciated.

Lots of various options out there. In my case, when I sold the house and began doing this a few years ago... on paper I "moved in" with my dad. Same state, just a few towns down the road, so not much change was required. So now that is my 'legal address' where my vehicles are registered, my mail goes, and my tax base. In re mail... he saves it up, and about once/month I give him an address where I'm gonna be for a few days so he can forward it to me. There's not a lot of it I need, because I do almost all of my banking & financial stuff online.

That said, there are also various clubs like Good Sam and Escapees RV clubs that offer those services... including a complete Florida address that you can use as a tax base (no state taxes!), to register your vehicles, drivers license, etc. They'll even open & scan all of your mail, and send you .pdf copies via email, if you want. Their fees are often tier-based, depending on the level of service you want.

With so many variables, depending on one's situation, the book in the photo is a great place to start. I highly recommend it as a baseline to get you started. You can get it at Amazon, and it'll address a lot of your questions.

I think the hardest part is keeping up with doctors, meds, and banking. We use PUBLIX here for Meds and would miss that ability to get early refills and them filling scripts in ten minutes rather than waiting hours wile walgreens and cvs. Wells Fargo is really pushing these days to make up for their earlier boo boo's so banking would not be that much of a problem to change to one of the national banks. UPS has opened a post office here in our neighborhood so you can keep your address and like ATCguy mentioned, Good Sam offers the florida address thing and they can send you mail to you. Maybe they can remove the "junk" mail. You can pay bills via electronic banking but if you don't have a home, most of that bill paying stuff is eliminated.

My biggest problem would be getting VA health care (yeah I know ughh) on a regular basis. Have to check on that. I am assigned to a local VA system.



We are going to sell the house in SC. Will keep researching.

If you have TRI CARE you can go to any doctor anywhere and get meds through walgreens. That's for disabled and retired (20 year) veterans. Your PCP controls all of your scripts and they will only mail to your main address (as far as I know). Would be interested if you find out anything. You also have that yearly appointment with them to renew all of your meds and get a "wellness" check with blood work.

Thanks, I am a 3 year Vet no tri care. I have a few issues I am working on, so I am in the clinic or the hospital for specialist a few times a year. Just had cataract surgery and was very happy with the hospital and staff. Yes, medications would be an issue. We shall see.

Stick and Morter address. (Gave the house to my daughter who was currently winning "the most grandchildren race". The other kids now have a bar set. Lol)

With today's technology, it's easy to have her update me on any important mail that might arrive.

As for Amazon and stuff like that, I often stay in places I really like long enough to get stuff shipped there. It's summer, so Colorado is my thing.

Yep, sounds like what I’ve been doing. Been up here in Cody since mid-May.... got another month left before I begin heading south to AZ for the winter.

Didn't you do winter on the Texas coast last year?
You and I crossed paths last summer several times in the Wyoming, Montana, Idaho vicinity, didn't we? Lol

I found a spot on top of a mountain in Mancos Colorado last year as I came down. It hit "that spot" in my nirvana bone. Stayed about 1½ months. Came straight back this summer when the tropical Temps ran me away from home.

Yes mail is probably the least difficult issue.


Vehicle registration and voter registration and insurance are more important. Have to look into the First suggestion above.

Yeah, we crossed paths a few times, but always seemed to be a week or so apart. I remember you mentioning the spot in Mancos last year, because I’d been close while staying in the Mesa Verdi area earlier that year (late May or early June). Obviously you managed to stay away from the Durango area fires in the area.

My winter in south Texas last year will not go on my list of favorites... though, to be fair, I’m not sure anywhere else would’ve been much better. November on South Padre was great... but after that, well... I can’t say much good about it. So the plan is to head back to one of my usual AZ locations this year.

My sister uses escapees so she could maintain an address in texas even though she no longer owns a house there. Her choice was Tx because they don't have state income tax. It would drive me nuts having my mail collected and forwarded to me only once per month (she does volunteer work at federal wildlife reserves and typically knows where she will be for 3 months at a time). My family sends her invites etc to me as they know I am always in email contact with her. It works fine for her!
