Found the Schwintek slide controller

I've only had my Voltage for a week but today I decided to find the Schwintek control boxes. There is one in the front bin near the generator, which I knew about. I found the main slide controller behind the wall in the basement near the water hookup panel. What a pita place to put it - totally inaccessible. After a little work moving it, it is now accessible in the basement.

I did not know there was a second one. What do you do with them anyway?

I have 3 slide-outs and I have 3 controllers all located in the basement. One on each side and one up front with the generator.

OK, I'm lost. I have 3 slides and I have seen one controller. In the basement. Really guys, what are we talking about here. What do these controllers do? Are they something you push buttons on? Really lost!

This shows a better picture of the controller and tells more about it.

You know, they hide them and hang them upside down so we won't find them and make the LEDs flash.

Arlan found a new toy..................

Good to know how it works if you need to push your slide in.

Take it from a few of us, slides don't slide in or out that easily by hand.

Hope I never find have to find out first hand. So far with all the slide units I've owned those have never been a problem. Tire failure now that's something I have way too mush first hand info on.

I found myself in a situation last year where the information about removing a single screw, lifting the motor and pushing, albeit, really hard, would have saved me four hours of trouble shooting, an upset spouse and a really crumby end to an amazing trip.

Dear Schwintek,

Please put this information in your user manual. You will have less than pissed off customers when your product fails (7 months after purchase). Knowing what to do, I would have continued my trip and dealt with the issue later, grumbling while moving the slide manually each day.

All is well, they fixed the problem as expected and it has worked well since. Chock it up to a simple physical manufacturing defect. A little information would have made the difference of a really upset customer versus one that was somewhat annoyed.
