Camping pets

I saw this on another site and thought it might be fun to see pictures of the pets we call family that we take camping with us. I'll start here are my two English Springer Spaniels. The older one is Drifter and the pup is Ender.

This is Mackie and Bitty. Mackie is a Jack Russell and Bitty is a Jug, Jack Russell-Pug mix. They're good travelers and enjoy the adventures. They go kayaking with us (with their little life jackets of course) and love the golf cart. Whenever we want to spend a day doing things where they are not permitted, we locate a good doggie daycare and they get to play with new friends. We've found some really nice boarding places in our travels, and a few crappy ones too where we decided not to leave them.

I have a camping hound, he is half Jack Russell Terrorist and half Walker Treeing Hound. He has a big voice that carries.

His name is Bat as in Bat Sh*t Crazy, he was a rescue, he turned 4 this year.

Nice looking dog. I've never heard of a Walker Treeing Hound. Probably not surprising as I've never lived east of Denver.

Here's our two, high-fiving each other after they successfully pushed us each out of bed! They jump up in the middle, and start pushing!

I actually got that backwards they are known as Treeing Walker Hounds. They are primarily for coon hunting, but will run deer too. They were just recognized as a breed by the AKC in 2012.

I have had a couple of hounds over the years and prefer the breed to most others. Bat was a rescue of sorts. He wandered in to a large horse farm the next county over and just didn't fit in too well so my BIL brought him over to us to hang out and hang out he does!

There is a joke that goes around in the hound circles about the Walkers "You have a mighty fine hunting dog... if you can get him off the sofa!"

We camp with our 3 all the time. The Chihuahua runs the show, the JRT thinks he's in charge, and the Lab is mellow but dumber than a sack of hammers. They all get along just fine and get the lower bunk all to themselves at night. We use several of those collapsible baby pens to coop them up when outside.

A few have jumped in with photos of their hairy four legged camping buddies.

Anybody travelling with a retired racing Greyhound? I know they're kinda large but they're very laid-back animals.

Not me, but my son has a couple, lovely animals.

I am of the opinion as long as the animal doesn't mind traveling... go for it.

Lol. We have an aerolite 282dbhs. With the happy jack beds up there is plenty of room. We don't usually have all 6 with us. The little old Black and Tan is getting too old to travel so she stays with a friend and the cattle dog on the right prefers to stay in my inlaws camper when they are with us. Trust me we are nothing. My wife's business is tied to dog shows. Those people are nuts. We have seen 10 or 12 doge in a camper smaller than ours.

This is exactly why we want a Welsh Terrier for our next pet.

My wife is a dog trainer/handler, everything from obedience, agility to scent detection. We travel with ours to from competition to competition. Not the life for everyone, but we enjoy it. What is your wifes business that involves dog shows? And I agree some of the people we meet at competitions are nuts. LOL!!!
