Anyone else's microwave start up by itself?

We've had our Voltage 3950 for half a dozen months and LOVE it. I've really had only 2 complaints.

1) different keys for different locks… Tried to have a locksmith come out and rekey them and was told that they are not able to be rekeyed. I contacted the manufacturer of the locks and they were going to find out about sending me out a set of matching locks… that never happened.

And this….

Our microwave just starts up by itself. Everything is cleared, no timer, no nothing, it just starts up, runs for a few minutes and shuts down. They're suppose to be replacing it because I'm not the only one complaining about it but it's a definite fire hazard.

About a month ago, we we riding and stopped for pizza. Apparently we placed the box in the microwave and by the time we packed up and came back, we left the box in there.

Two days ago I went to move the trailer to get the roof repaired (yes, I snagged the damn thing on an overhang that I've pulled into a 1000 times but this time someone moved the dumpster 4' to the right and while I'm watching the dumpster like I normally do, I didn't realize it was 4' over)

Arrgggghhh.

But I digress… anyway, here's what I discovered..

It was piping hot as the microwave had apparently just shut off on one of it's cycles.

Got to get this fixed asap… that could have been ugly.

Other than that, the toy hauler is GREAT!!

The keys for both entry doors and your ramp can be keyed alike. I had a locksmith out and she fixed me right up. Read this thread.

Don't have a clue on the microwave. But yes, you need to get that repaired or replace ASAP.

Mine does too!! We kept hearing a beeping noise and could not figure it out. It will come on for 3 minutes. You can also press anywhere on the keypad and it will come on. We keep it unplugged until we can make it back for replacement. The water heater also has an interior leak.

There's a certain brand that's operating on its own. It's the appliance and not a Dutchmen thing. Different people at the park where we were this Winter in Florida were complaining about it. Fortunately, my 2012 has a Dometic microwave and doesn't have the issue.

Please let everyone know which brand it is so that other viewers of this forum are aware of this issue.

I hope that the appliance people are taking notice and fixing the issue.

Our 3950 had the same problem, we contacted the manufacturer of microwave and they sent repair company to house to replace control panel, just asked wife the brand because I forgot but she believes it was Fridgadaire.

We got a call from our dealer the other day regarding this issue. Seems our unit wasn't included in the campaign/recall/screwed up appliance, Boy that makes me feel better afer almost being burned alive in my last coach due to a campaign on a Norcold 1200 LRM refrigerator. Anything that comes on by itself is not a campaign or recall.... its a piece of junk and can't be trusted.

Yes, as others have said, it is a Frigidaire. I have an appt on the 10th to have it replaced. Also, as was mentioned, it's not a Dutchmen thing, it's a Frigidaire thing.

To be perfectly honest, I haven't had but the simplest of issues with my trailer. (found a finishing screw that the carpet was laid over on)

The only complaint I've had design wise is I think they should have placed the hydraulic controls for the leveling system in the front so I can watch my hitch. Having it in the basement on the side is not conducive to hooking up to your 5th wheel (I'm using a gooseneck)

Other than that, this has been a PERFECT trailer, I'm thrilled to death with it.

We completely agree! We love our 3895. Yep we have had some minor issues but overall it is great. We are camping one more time this weekend before putting it in the shop to change out the microwave, check out the leak in the water heater and that's about it. We hope to have to run the A/C units this weekend to check them out. Also have an issue with the memory for the hydraulic leveling system when we start to hook back up. It gives an error code.

UPDATE: Frigidaire Microwave Recall

Posted from HOC Forum:

Frigidaire KG-series microwaves, models CFMV152CLB and CFMV154CLS, manufactured January 27, 2013, through April 10, 2013 in the serial number range KG30607951 through KG31600670 are being recalled. These microwaves may start on their own and begin heating when unattended. If the microwave starts on its own and there are contents inside, a fire could result. The recall is expected to begin in May 2014. Until the microwave has been repaired, owners should not store anything in the microwave while it is unattended. The fix is for Frigidaire to come to you and fix the keypad, NOT REPLACE the microwave. The repair should take 30 minutes.
