once out saw Dutchman handywork not really surprised



panels held together with metal tape only again not really shocked .. should be ... but not!



resized cabinet added perma board insulation



prep for install



all thats left is the trim that I'm working on to cover the edges ..split wood ... crazy holes they made ... any questions feel free to ask. Its lighter, less expensive, cools much faster, and I feel good about it... Yes, it took some thought as to secure it down, vent it properly and so on but not too bad.

Do you remember the measurements on the new refrigerator? Brand would be helpful and cubic feet too.

Robert, its this one spec's listed Shop Haier 10.28-cu ft Top-Freezer Refrigerator (Black) at Lowes.com a little less cubic ft... but the Norcold was only 12 cubic ft. So far its worked great, am pleased.

I'm glad I have the Dometic and it is working good. I can not imagine having an RV refrigerator that did not run on propane.

Thanks Slim, I'm thinking a 14.4 cf will fit in there if it's shoved all the way back in the cavity. Height and width is OK but the depth is a little tight.

I usually don't pay attention the Norcold until tonight when I noticed the temperature was 56.3 after I had been trying to decide what I wanted out of the freezer. It has been hot out side and with a broken awning I can't keep the afternoon sun of the refrigerater compartment so that might be a contributing factor for the temperature rise.
It has been cooling down so it is working albeit slowly. I'll check its temperature in the morning and see if it gets down there to the 40 degree range.

I didn't know the Voltage even used the Dometic? I have a personal beef with Norcold sooo, its out. As far as propane, we can live without no big deal for us. Dometic seems to have a better reputation.

I agree a little larger unit could be used. But you dont want it right up against the back wall. Most residentials require at least 2 inches clearance. That may not seem like much, but it is, when space is a major issue. This suits our needs perfectly, runs great on generator to and from different relocations as well. At this point, couldn't be happier... we certainly sleep better for those of you that know my experience with Norcold 1200 series. (Fires)

Ah, the two inches, that will kill the 14 footer for sure. I forgot about residential requirements, if I replace the gas thing with an electric it will be the first electric box I've had in 20 years having lived with gassers for that many years.

I have tons of space in the Norcold as it is so a 10 footer will work for me with room to spare. Don't need to store a bunch of stuff in there when the grocery store will do it for me and rotate the stock as well.

Duh. My bad. It is a Norcold. The other RV's I have owned were Dometic. The camper I have is Dometic so I jumped in with out thinking about it. Sorry.

I have no axe to grind with the Norcold (yet) and it is working well.

Same here. Leaving the desert when it's 110+ stuff in the frig would go bad on me if it wasn't running.
