Homemade Coupler Lock

Thought I'd post some pics of a coupler lock that I welded up from scrap metal that I had lying around to fit a puck lock that I had purchased years ago. The only new part that I had to buy was a hitch ball from Wal-Mart.

The pics are pretty self-explanatory but you may not see that the ball is welded in place & I drilled a few weep holes in the bottom to drain any water that may accumulate.

I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out!

interesting lock,,, looks great but while googling Puck locks, I watched a guy on You tube make short work picking the small keyed Master Lock puck lock,, i guess given enough time most locks can be broken into,, I look at our master lock hitch lock. and think a sledge hammer could make short work,, My BIL has land in AZ which I had hoped to put my trailer on instead of hauling the 5 hours for a weekend adventure but he says there are alot of thefts through broken windows, etc... so that is out of our picture,,, looks great though...

Coupler locks

I have recently been interested in trailer security and found a couple of tongue locking systems similar to the homemade type with the hockey "puck" style locks. One from Proven Industries https://www.provenlocks.com Another from GusHill Industries https://gushill.com

As far as locks I have found some interesting locks available through the following manufacturers.
MUL-T-LOCK MT5+ TR100 "Hockey Puck" Padlock

Abloy Protec2 PL 975 Hardened Steel Puck Padlock

Great job, it does look sturdy enough to secure the unit.
