24 hours running all three ACs, water heater, fridge, ice maker, satellite tv, and stereo no issues! 8 gallons of fuel so far. Well worth it! No more power dropping out

Been waitin' for this post... I'm impressed!!!

My next toyhauler I think I'll just get the generator prep and do the same, I'd rather have the ginny on the same fuel as the TV, especially with the results listed above.

Good call Don!!!

I like this mod.

Do you know the weight difference between your old gasoline 5500 and the new diesel 7500?

About 200 pounds. I just added a few pounds to the TV airbags and all was happy.

Up until now, future plans were to eliminate the LMS in the coach as I had a several issues in the past related to power dropping completely out for a few seconds several times per day. This weekend there were zero issues and everything ran off the generator with no issues.

Sent the LMS off to Precision Circuits and they reflashed it to run on the diesel generator normally. So should still have no issues shedding loads, but if it needs to, it'll work like factory.

Been following your install, planned on using some of your ideas, especially the slide from truck to compartment hints.

Ended up going a different route, ordered a new trailer and was able to spec it with the Onan 8K QD. The RV manufacturer ships the trailer over to Onan in Elkhart for the install rather then doing it in house.

What pump did you have to use?
Does the genny have it's own lift pump as well?

Now that it is in an enclosed, how did you find the noise?
On our current, not very well sound insulated trailer I find the factory 5500 Onan gasoline genny fairly quiet. I have no trouble sleeping with the genny on.

Yours is the inverter version, correct?

Duane - that is fantastic that they will do it for you!

I just ordered another pump with the same part number that was on the one inside the generator housing. So yes, I still have two pumps - I feel almost 40' is too much to ask that little pump to pull thru. My gasser had issues and I resolved them by adding the second pump, so I figured it was worth it to do the same for this one.

After hooking it up and starting it up, I quickly realized that no additional enclosure was needed. The noise level to me is less than the gasser. The only thing we notice is the engine speed change depending on the load.

Mine is not inverter, but electronically governed. From what I can tell listening to it, it has three speeds that I notice. 1 is with a load, 2 is with a very light load and 3 with no load at all.

Hope this helps!

One of the advantages of fuel injection, more precise control.

Water cooled? The inverter quiet diesel is and that makes for a lot less fan noise on the demo that I heard.

Yes on water cooled. I am extremely happy wiyth it. I also connected the Magnum AGS on mine so it it starts on its own if low batteries, high coach temperature or monthly maintenance runup calls for it.

"If" it is done correctly, y option package will be full controls as well.
Auto gen start, time, temp or battery etc.

Besides the fancy inverter generator, I also have a Magnum Hybrid 3012 inverter installed. Includes all the Magnum controls.
