Eternabond as prevention

Hi all,

Has anyone used Eternabond to tape up all their lap sealant seams as preventative maintenance? I was looking at doing a RV Armor lifetime roof but the cost is pretty steep. Eternabond says their roof sealant tape should stand up to UV rays for 19 years. I would be interested in your opinions about doing this and if you have already done it how you think it is working out.

I haven't but it is on my list. The game plan is to clean all the existing sealant (or as much as I can) then to use the Eternabond (actually a different product, but similar) around the perimeter where the roof is sealed to the sidewalls.

Are you going to do your vents and such too or just the perimeter? Also, what product are you going to be using?

Initially just the perimeter, then possibly the vents. I want to change out one of the vents, convert another to the deluxe fan and add covers to a couple of them. The stuff I use is OMG EverSeal. We use it at work so I can get a pretty decent discount on it compared to the Eternabond.

I have seen several units where they only do the front and rear cap connection.

I bought a roll of Eternabond and plan to do the front cap and the tops of my slides first.

I purchased Eternabond and plan to do the same ... but starting with the vent openings first then working my way to the perimeter.

Waiting for the rain to quit & some warmer days first.

I wish it was just raining here. It's currently snowing and forecast to be snowing into tomorrow too. Brought to you by living in the Denver metro.

I had a 42 foot slice of rubber roof due to the only Mesquite tree in Arizona to grow tall enough to hang down, into my roof when I drove under it.

I used the Eternabond tape to close the gap the full length of the hauler. That was five years ago. At that time I also used the self leveling stuff to run the edges of the tape.

I was on the roof the other day to clean some Oklahoma off of it, the tape looked like it did five years ago. It has always been one those 'worry about' things but no problem yet.

I have the lifetime spray roof and it's really really thick and should be no way to leak ever!!!.. but I want to use eterna bond tape on all the seams and screws lines for my slides has anyone tried that?.. just curious.. wanted them to spray slide roofs as well but couldn't due to thickness of material

Soft brush, water, sweat and a little Awesome cleaner from the Dollar General. For me it was mostly the green residue from the Oak trees. I think that's where it came from, dunno only been here two years. I've always been a desert rat so tall stuff with leaves and squirrels are new to me.

Remove as much as reasonably possible. I use plastic or wooden scrapers and a heat gun set on low.

Then wipe down with denatured alcohol.
