2015 3800 upgrades

Sorry for the length, but I like to help others as much as I can.

UPGRADES

1. Air gauge on the Trail Air kingpin
2. LED strip lights in the generator, both LP, and passthrough bins with a lit waterproof switch just next to the battery box vent
3. Small C-TEK battery charger mounted in the generator compartment that also trickles the battery
4. Levelers on the LCI remote
5. Tee off the propane lines with quick connects for Weber Q grill
6. Blue strip LED's for step lights instead of the amber ones
7. Replaced all the non-LED light with LED lights inside coach
8. Hung both ladders in the garage using wheelbarrow hangers
9. Hung ALL the garage table legs behind the entry door to the garage with magnetic tool strips from Harbor Freight
10. LED strip lights to back-light the inside control panel
11. Hooked-up the rear "WORK" lights to the 7-Pin trailer/truck wiring for back-up lights that can also be used as normal
12. Turned under the fridge louvered area into a storage area
13. Key hanger by front door on cabinets
14. 3 hooks mounted on the USELESS 2" deep cabinet in bathroom to hang clothes/towels
15. Slide out 2-tier drawer under sink
16. Added another set of LED brake lights
17. Little screw in hooks on the wall at each pin hole for the rear bunks so we don't loose any more!!!

I think thats it... Just about ALL of these ideas came from this forum!!! I'm not one document the process of the mods, but when I get a chance I will take pics of all the mods and post them. Hope this helps someone out!!!

Nice list... I did a #11 on ours. I used a relay with the N/O contacts wired across the switch that operates the rear lights. Connected the relay coil to the yellow back up light wire in the J-box. Works nicely and still allows operation from the control panel switch. Only had to run a few feet of wire into the storage compartment for the whole thing.
Did a #16 too.

Can either one of you direct me to how you wired this please.

Thanks.

Here's a quickie on how I did mine... Hopefully the pictures will be large enough to see. The relay coil only pulls about 200mA. Fishing the wire through the underside to the pin box was a pain. My fish tape just wouldn't work. I finally used a piece of 1/4" polyflow tubing and was smooth as silk. I discovered many connectors on the control panel that were not crimped too. That was an additional repair. There is a lot of strain on that wire bundle.

Great pics Thompwil. Any chance you have one of the connection on the backside of the switch?

I don't, I took those pictures this morning. Not feeling much like pulling out the control panel again . On ours, it is a lighted switch, so not only is there the power feed, there's a common for powering the light in the panel switch too. You want to tap one wire from the relay contacts into the power feed + and the other wire from the relay contacts into the wire feeding the rear lights. Don't use the common - wire on the switch. The relay contacts jump out the switch on the control panel when connected to the tow vehicle and in reverse. I just used those little crimp tap connectors.

Why the relay? I did not use one, just spliced in... Will that cause damage?

Thanks. I get the gist of it and understand the relay

I can't see any damage occurring, I used the relay to isolate the truck system from the coach system. The 12vdc on that side of the panel would be sourced by the converter when plugged in to shore line. Again most likely no problem, I'm just used to isolating things from my industrial days...

Latch to hold what looks like propane door open. I put those on mine too for setting up while there is wind or a breeze.

Thats exactly what they are... The coach didn't come with any, and from the forum again... I found out that if you put it in the right spot on the street-side or wet-bay side you can use the catch for both the propane door as well as the wet bay door!!!

Thanks thompwil, I got scared there for a minute!
