Why does my TV...

Everytime I use my tv outside I have to re scan channels??? When I turn it off it forgets all previous scanned channels on cable. Any ideas. ?. Thanks.

It is not a "smart" TV? Or maybe it is just a slow learner.

Sounds like it needs a constant power on to keep it from losing it's memory, or it was wired wrong from the factory. I have to do a rescan on ours every trip anyway, because we typically don't go to the same place twice in a row and are using an OTA.

It plugged into shore power. I can understand moving and unplugging. But shouldn't while power is constant. .. doesn't do it on the other sets? Anyone else..

What flavor of TV is it Slim?

TVs, like computers and other electronic stuff that runs our lives normally have a capacitor that holds that information. A computer has one that keeps the date and time for you until you turn it on again and recharge the cap.

A TV probably should have one as well so one wouldn't have to rescan every time thing is turned off. Same for those TVs that keep favorite channels and date and time and other nonsense.

Samsung had some power supply problems a few years back because they used lower voltage caps. It was a 300 hundred dollar charge to change 4 higher voltage caps, I did my own for the price of the components.

I have the Sansui outside too, used it for the first time the other day to watch the races. I'll check mine tomorrow to see if it needs to be rescanned.

That very well may be the problem because I just checked mine and all the channels are there from when I scanned on Sunday.

Now, there may be a firmware update for your TV. I've found the updates but I don't know what model I/we have. If it has a USB port on the rear then an update might be the trick.

Sansui Products - Downloads | Support

Here's the list, the hard part will be to unplug the thing before starting the update. Either find where it's plugged in or pull it off the mount and disconnect it there.
