Vented Dryer install
Hey all, I wanted to share some info about my Washer/dryer combo install. Specifically the dryer vent cutout on a 3990. Pictures should answer most questions but please ask me anything specific. It was a very easy straight forward job but the initial cut was as you can imagine nerve-racking.

Glad to see another 2015 3990. I didn't have the guts to cut thru the side of mine. CW had a special on the installation. I think it was $139, so it was a no brainer for me. Keep me posted on those upgrades and modifications!

Thanks for sharing. I have a 3970 that I believe is very similar. I'm curious why you put the vent so high? I'd like to keep the top closet shelf and so have the vent below that. Just wondering if there is a technical reason from r your location. I've been unsuccessful getting any information out of Dutchmen.
Thanks,
George

I'm thinking about not using the hookup in the wardrobe on my 3970. Since the kitchen sink is along the rear wall and next to the garage, thinking about tapping into that water and drain connection and leaving the w/d in the garage. That makes more space in the wardrobe. Will stick the flexible camera in the wall to see if this is do-able. Anyone already have done this?

I thought about the same thing Denny, but didn't want to give up the space in the garage. Just installed my Splendide combo in the wardrobe. That closet isn't deep enough so I had to cut out the bottom of the back - a good size dead area is there. The other thing is the closet is narrow so not much room for hoses etc on the side but it works. And I still have the top shelf and hanger bar so we like the result. BTW, Ductchmen's support is terrible. They flat-out refused to provide me with information or put in touch with their tech team, so I just had to probe to make sure I wasn't going to hit any structural members. I installed a dryer in my Jayco and they were fabulous, even sending me an engineering dimensional drawing. Sounds like you have the same camper as me - good luck with it.

Sorry about not replying to you earlier. Yes to a degree it was because it needed to be above the water pipes, and mostly because it didn't fit between the dryer and wall so I had to go above the dryer! That I believe was the reason at the time.

One other consideration - I don't have a 3970. but on my 3950, the kitchen grey tank is much smaller than the bathroom grey tank where I assume your current W/D drain goes...might limit you as to how many loads you can do and how much you can use the kitchen sink...

I recently put my washer in the garage. I had to drill a hole in the wall to get all the services to it, but it works swimmingly. The washer is only 27 inches wide, the dryer will be added across from it, only losing 27 inches of garage space is not too bad.

Can you verify the dimensions where you drilled your 4" hole. You only get one chance. I don't want to hit a support. But, the closet inside prevents me from using my stud finder.
