Using Generator while traveling
I would like to know if anyone runs their generator and one ac while traveling ?
I was thinking on doing this the last hr before we get to the camp ground so that it would be cool inside when we got there?
Thanks for the advice . John

I do it. Usually for the drive from the dealership, run the A/C or the fireplace but always the refrigerator.

Wow... ok, had never even thought of doing that. I've run the generator & bedroom a/c while still hitched and catching a few hours of sleep at a truckstop a few times... but not while moving. Interesting. Might have to try that when I head back west again in August.

I do it all the time when heading out in the summer time here in the desert.
I have 30 amp service at home where the Voltage is parked. We will run the A/C on shore power the day before we head out, to help cool it down.
Come July 3rd we will be heading to Glacier NP. First stop over is Vegas. So at the Kelso rest area we will turn on the generator & the front a/c unit. That way when we get to Sam's Town RV park it wouldn't be 100+ inside the RV.

generator runs will traveling
I usually turn on generator and AC an hour before I reach my destination, nice and cool when you get there and also keep generator running while I level rv and put slides out. Never had an issue..

^^^ x2 - have run it going to the race before I installed the solar and inverter setup. I will still run it underway if I want the AC on but now I can run the ice maker and fridge off solar on the way - and viola! Cocktails are served on ice within minutes of arrival!

I run mind sometimes, because on real hot days, I have my 2 Lab's stay in the garage, not in the hot truck, when getting gas, food or short runs between camping grounds...

Class A's run their gens all the time. Shouldn't be an issue if we do too.

I ran mine today on the first day of a long vacation (or escape from the heat). It was around 95 degrees most of the first leg. Trailer was nice and cool when we stopped at the RV park.
I will run the generator whenever traveling in hot country. It worked great.
I have to say it was not so great on the first outing as I lost a fuel pump in the first few days.

I run mine while on the move in the summer, keeping my yellow lab nice and cool as she always travels in her kennel in the garage. Never an issue and she appreciates the comfort I am sure!!

I have a 2500 rubicon. I run the ac and fridge. No problem. Not sure why they say it needs to be level. North ga roads have all kinds of grades over 10%. I get to the camp, and everything is cold.

When static the refrigerator will cool better and last longer when level. The liquid solution has to be pumped throughout the system for it to cool properly. If out of level when static the solution doesn't have a smooth transition throughout the system.
Running down the road over hill and dale doesn't affect the system adversely because the sloshing helps move the liquid.
