Thumbs down

Dutchmen has acknowledged the issue. I suspect it is due the swap to a cable slide system. The solution involves taking the slide out of the camper and replacing the walls!

I am being told it will be at least a month before the parts are in for the fix which I am told will be a 3 day effort.

My relationship with Dutchmen is off to a VERY poor start.

Wow very sorry to hear this, hope this turns our well.

It sound crazy they would let this out of the factory this way. Or even change the slide system without figuring out it has an impact on the windows or cabinet doors

About par for the course with much of the RV industry. They are extremely short sighted and will do anything at the drop of the hat if they think it will improve profits.

Yep it's very disappointing. Apparently a lot of the workers are paid per parts they install so the faster they get it on, the better it is for them. They can install 5-6h in one factory and then cross the street and work another 5-6 hour for another manufacturer. Perfect recipe for disaster.

Now that's hearsay from a friend that visited manufactures, dont know exactly how much truth there is in this 9He was there to get is RV fixed and was pretty upset lol).

Now we only have to blame ourselves for this. Who would buy a "better build RV" if it was 2000$ more? We all say we would and usually end up buying the best deal we can find anyway...

I like a deal just as much as the next person, but I won't by something just on price alone. An RV salesman told me that Dutchmen put lots of eye-candy in their product, but not so much in the quality area. I figured he was just trying to upsell us. Wish I would have listened.

In the end it comes down to the floorplan that works for you. We have the right floorplan and with the upgrades to the running gear amongst other upgrades we have the right unit for us.

I would have happily paid an extra 2K to start from where we are now.

I have a 2016 3970 with the same exact problem. Your photos look identical to mine. Only on one side and only when the slide is out. Have you received an answer from the manufacturer yet? Please let me know.

Yes, Dutchman had both sidewalls replaced in the affected slide.

Thanks, I will contact them again and seek the same solution. Do you have a contact at Dutchman that is aware of this fix?

Sorry the dealership handled that side of the conversation. But the defect was due to the slide not being able to go out as far with the new cable drive system that they used for 2016 (ironic this was to fix another problem).

Who was your dealer? My dealer in Texas wants to contact your dealer to discuss what was done to fix your slide. I really appreciate your time and help.

When new, my bedroom slide leaked because the upper front seals didn't. I glued the horizontal and vertical together and no more leaks.

Galley slide leaked because there was an 18" of 14/2 cable on top holding the seal open.

3950. No leaks in the last 5 years.

I just pulled mine out of storage and figured out I have the same problem on the bedroom slide. Please keep us updated with the results. We camped in light rain and I didn't notice any issues, but that doesn't mean it didn't leak. My warranty runs out in November but I would think a design flaw would go past that.

Mine leaked pretty bad during heavy rains. The entire floor on the forward section of the bedroom would be wet.
