Still, I think the valve stem is only one factor that determines the PSI rating of the wheel. What about the interface between the rim and the tire bead? Shouldn't that also be a factor in the wheels ability to maintain the pressure?

The bead on a G rated tire is serious... it must be at least 2-3 times as thick as a truck tire or E rated trailer tire... so no problem there... the valve stem is the weak link in the rim there for rim is only limited by its weakest link the valve stem.

I bit the bullet this week and ordered 4 new Goodyear G614s. As a former employee and retiree I get a VERY SIGNIFICANT discount on them. Tires, with new valve stems, mounting and balancing at $165.00 each. I'm dropping my rims off Friday morning to have them installed and should have them back on the Voltage by the end of the day.
