That Shouldn't Happen

In a previous thread I requested the length of the rear electric landing jack leg due to issues with the pin bending. Well, this weekend the pin busted as the unit was leveling out. Dropped a about 6 inches on the drop leg before the pin wedged between the main leg and the drop leg.

I just bought a new leg so hopefully that fixes the problem.

Why not ditch those pins and use a grade 12 bolt with a nut?

Soonernation,
That does not appear to be the proper pin for that hole. Is it the same pin as the "foot pad"?
My 3950 has an altogether different style of pin that goes through that part of the leg. The pins I have fit very tightly in the holes and do not have that style "handle/lock" like the one you are showing. I am thinking the wrong pins were installed at the factory originally and that is what is causing your problems. Those pins in your picture are not designed to carry the load you are putting on them!

Thanks for the info.

The lower pin attaching the footpad is the one that came with the trailer and is installed on all of the other 5 footpads. The original pin that was used to hold the drop leg was one of the type that is spring loaded and is pulled out to move the drop leg up or down. I broke two of those so thats why I went with the pin you see in the pic.

I have a feeling that when the first pin sheared inside the leg due to me not seating it all the way, it reamed out the hole a bit and may have even created a scenario where the two legs were not flush inside. This would cause a gap where the pin was being pressured at the end. This is why I didn't even bother trying to fix this leg and bought a new one.

This is the style of pin I have on all the other legs. The rear and middle came with these from the factory. I added them to the front.

I think that's where I will be going. I really don't want to spend another $280 on a leg.

There are two sizes of those one 3/8" & other 7/16". Double check the hole size my guess is yours should be 7/16"
