Surge protector to the rescue
We were staying in an RV site in northern Virginia a couple weeks ago. Suddenly we lost our shore power about 9 PM. Everything just died except for the overhead lighting. The wife asked what happened.. I dunno was the response.. I went outside to look at the readout on the surge protector. Sure enough, it displayed "high voltage spike" or something very close to that. Apparently, there was a power surge and it shut down protecting everything inside. What a relief.. About 2.5 minutes later the power came back on and all was well. I often wonder who got zapped that night and lost electronics on board.
The protectors really work and just this one probably saved me a lot of repairs. Mine is the 50 Amp Progressive.

It's nice to know they work as designed... I too have one of the EMS-PT50X after hearing a similar story from a neighbor on one of our trips. He stated that he bought one after a similar surge took out most of his electronics and cost his several hundred dollars to repair.

Won't leave home without it! Also use when plugged in at home... just in case.
Had a buddy with a beach house and the local power company transformer lost it's neutral. The TT he had plugged in at the house with the EMS on came out fine, the house... not so well. They had to replace a bunch of electronics and all the GFCI breakers. Power company did reimburse them for it.

Mine is always plugged in when the TT is hooked up, My unit stays plugged in at home also and it is there working 24/7.
I am also particular about water pressure and always use a regulator.

2nd trip out in our Kodiac we went to my daughter in laws place, 250 miles over some rough Oklahoma and Kansas roads. Plugged in and got everything set up then noticed that the A/C did not come on... and worse! the coffee pot was not working. When we got home took it into Bob Hurley RV in Tulsa for maintenance and warranty. Long story short - cost me 250 bucks after the insurance paid their share because Hurley does not use the parts the insurance company they sold me wanted them to use. Went out and got a suppressor the next day and have been using it ever since. Oh yeah, Bob's no longer on my Christmas Card list either....

Unbelievable! Some dealers are worthless. Ours was worse haha.
We drove home 200 miles with a brand new trailer. The trailer rode like a bucking horse. Wife said "WHAT HAVE WE DONE"
After getting home, I discovered no trailer brakes and the hitch was not installed properly.
Back to surge protectors. Wonder how common AC Power issues are at campgrounds???

If you start monitoring it using a Surge Protector, you'll notice many do have some power issues. Many aren't noticeable, but since I installed my surge protector with the dual monitor panels, it's pretty amazing to me how many have low voltage supplies, etc.

Yes, some dealers are pretty bad but YOU should have caught those two issues before departure!
