Question Slide Toppers and Schwintek Equipped Slideouts

Just curious about those members with side toppers installed who also have the Schwintek slideout mechanisms on their rooms: Have any problems with the Schwintek mechanisms? Wanted to purchase "factory installed" toppers when I ordered my Voltage 3600 but was told by salesperson and Dutchmen that they no longer offer them. Only option is dealer or aftermarket installation....wondering if there's a connection.

Had them on mine, after the first week of owning unit. There should be pictures under my username. Never had a problem with my slides. I only open/close slide when level.

I have slide toppers as well - they were installed by the dealer prior to taking delivery. No issues as long as level each and every time you open or close the slides.

I have them on all 3 of my slides, dealer installed. Love them. Only issue I have that is being rectified at dealer right now is they did not get the fabric tight enough on install on one slide and it will flap in the breeze and collect rain water like a large bucket.

Interesting! When I had mine installed, the dealer and Dutchmen both warned against putting a topper on the kitchen slide as the awning mounting height would not allow for proper angle on the topper for runoff and clearance issues. We just rely on the awning to be the kitchen slide topper...

Before I had them installed, I remembered reading your post about Dutchmen not recommending them. The dealer and I took a ton of measurements with the slide (without topper) and awning in multiple positions to ensure there was adequate clearance. There was a minimum of 6" above where we figured the topper and awning would be at their closest points. I figured if the awning bounces that much in any wind, I shouldn't have the awning out anyway.
After the install, there is actually about 7-7 1/2" clearance at the closest points.
The only topper I have issues with is the main LR slide, CW didn't install fabric tight enough and it pools water. They are rectifying that now with new fabric install at no cost to me.

I will have to relook this myself now for future mod - spring camping doesn't always allow us to keep the awning extended due to high winds here.

Thanks!
