C'mon now, on this problem we have to think positive at least once. I'm positive because this is my second slide hack up, the next one, as I have said, will see the Voltage as a park model in a senior's only park rented to the cat lady.

Yeah, I hate to be pessimistic but my experience with trailers in general have been mediocre at best.

I need to go and check my caulking around the slides. My slides have gone through many cycles as we use our trailer at least every other weekend. I had a problem once with the bedroom slide only going halfway out without assistance but that hasn't happened in over 6 months. I think buying and using the recommended lubrication helped in my case.
I did talk to a guy at the dump station yesterday that had just bought a Open Range bumper pull and he said the first time he went to close the slide when he was at home loading up, the thing shredded the gears and it went right back to the shop. He said his wife was not happy with the issues they were having right off the bat on a brand new trailer.

He started the conversation by telling me that no one told him he should buy gloves when he saw me wearing mine. We've all been there.

Found where someones slide was stuck in the closed position and couldn't remove set screw to disengage motors. God forbid this action need be taken.

Actually, if the factory had included that access AND have properly made the cover it would solve a lot of problems!!

Actually, if the factory had a good workable slide system the hole and cover wouldn't be needed and there would be less problems.

Something has to happen to correct this slide abortion. All owners of RVs that use the ****tek slide system have been royally porked and relief needs to be forthcoming.

Agree X 10. My earlier statement was based on the reality of "you're going to need that hole someday". Don't ever see the RV industry stepping up and solving this problem. It would put Lippert out of business and the manufacturers just don't care. As long as buyers keep buying this crap, they will continue to sell it. If we could get people to not buy anything with a Schwintek system, almost all Rv's regardless of manufacture, the industry would have to change. But that still wouldn't help any of us that have them already.

Oh, and by the way, I think it would take 2 or 3 sticks to get all 5 slides on mine to open simultaneously.

You know as well as I the automotive industry has used rubber plugs in firewalls for years. They are there for various reasons and uses but it would seem to me that if a Voltage, for instance, had plugs in those places they would raise many questions. The act of having an access hole to the motor screws would be admitting they have a problem and eventually someone will need to pop the plugs and access the stuff behind them.
We know that ain't gonna happen in my life time.

If one were to drill this access hole while its working would be the time to do it. My problem would be, I would have to remove my slide topper in order to drill. The brackets are right over top of those corners...

Since we are reengineering the slide system with access holes how 'bout this? Instead of a hole and plug in the corner piece of the facia why not devise a way to remove that corner for access?
Getting the corner out of the way would definitely allow for more space in which to work. Might have to study that option since my warranty is over.

Still like that partial stick idea best...... But the corner idea is worth thinking about.
