There has been more than one post on this Forum where people have found that the fuel lines are actually collapsing, preventing fuel flow. If I remember correctly, many people found it collapsed at a clamp near the generator compartment somewhere.

Tanman, the hour meter on my 2 Yr old diesel generator still reads 0 also, even though I know I have Boondock for at least 10 weekends and running it the full weekend. I track my hours manually to keep up with maintenance.

Tonight

Well, I have gotten a lot of great advice here. I am going out to work on it tonight. I will report back and tell you what I found. If I can not get it started, I will remove the Carb and try to order rebuild kit FIRST. With new plugs, oil, plugs, etc. I am at about $100. I am REALLY hoping to avoid buying a NEW CARB for $300. Wish me luck!

Bad News

I was close! I changed the oil, plugs, cleaned carb, had fresh gas, fuel filter, oil filter and BOOM! The engine was running rough and then catastrophic failure. Clearly something broke. Not sure what. When I pulled carb, there were small pieces of metal behind it. SO, my father-in-law and I pulled the Gen and it is loaded in the back of my truck. I am calling Onan this morning. They have a repair, service center in Fort Wayne. The worst is could cost is about $3700 (New unit). I of course am praying for something less. Thanks for your help!

It's from a 2015 Voltage. So, I'm assuming it was the same age. I am pretty sure it is out of warranty. I am taking to the Service Center this afternoon.

Not sure how bad. No oil spewing everywhere and no visual signs. It still cranks so it is not locked up. But, metal in the engine is never a good thing!

Unit was purchased in September of 2015. There may be a 3 year warranty. I am hoping and praying for a little miracle to save some cash.

The Rest of the Story

Ok! We are back in business,

The rest of the story:

The Gen dropped a valve. Cummins replaced the motor under warranty. I installed it tonight. It started right up and purred like a kitten. I was the second owner of this unit. Onan treatedme like I was the first owner and got warranty approval. The final cost was nearly $3000. I paid nothing. I am praising God for the warranty and great service from the local Cummins service center, great service companies are hard to come by now a days.

Thank you Cummins!
