Onan 4000 generator

OK so does anyone have an issue with the noise from their on board generator?

Our generator is sitting directly on the metal cabinet floor with no "vibration feet" to help reduce the noise! From the outside it is not loud BUT if you are sitting in the living area slide (the generator is on the left side of the trailer in the front bedroom area) the noise is terribly loud!

Do any of you have those "rubber vibration feet" your generators? Where they there when you picked up your TH or did you add them later? It looks like it is quite a job to install them after the fact!

I have ordered an acoustic deadening product called Sound 'n Safe, which I will pick up from the big city (we are an hour away from any "mall" stores (ie, Lowes, Home Depot, Walmart) and hop to install it before we leave on a 2 week outing! Hopefully it will cut some of the noise so we can at least carry on a conversation without yelling at each other (and we do that quite often )!

What happened to your one on one relationship with the factory rep on this site?

There is a quiet kit for the 4000. It's a housing of some sort.

I'm not going to "wear out my welcome" with simple questions.....isn't that what the forum is all about???

If in fact everyone had the absorption feet - I would contact my connection.....if not...why and I going to bother him?

I meant it as a joke. You know like Dutchmens customer service.

Sorry today is a bad day for me - found out Mother may have stomach cancer, I am her only living child and live 6 hours away - so my sense of humor is non-existent!

My apologies!

Oh I did find out that the Onan 4000 series does NOT have the absorption feet.....so that will answer the question for any of us who have a 4000!

My 4000 is mounted in a housing unit but it is still noisy on the inside - we are used to running 2 x 2000i Hondas....just need to get some insulation in there and I think we will be good!

OK so I spoke with the doctor today and after an "interdepartmental conference" and review of the specimen and photos....she does NOT have cancer again! Thank you Lord!
