Norcold N811 Fridge
OK - I've read all the threads and reviews about Norcold and I'm not overly impressed but I do have a question.
We've had our Rubicon almost 2 years and never had a problem with the fridge - yet we did not camp much (maybe 2 months worth) - on this 10 day trip + at home run time (7 days) = it seems to be "clicking" and the green light will pulse - does not go out - just pulses with the clicking! I've checked the manual and did a quick search when I had internet and could not find what it might be!!!
Anyone have this happen or have any suggestions on what to look for?

That sounds like the board is firing but the propane isn't being ignited.
Do the old dignosis thing, check for gas in the tank, all valves open, cleanliness around the refrierator burner and all that. You've read the threads so you have a good idea for which to look.

Sorry my bad - it is running on electric.....could it be the "de-humidifer" firing?

Beats me, never heard of a dehumidifier on a gas refrigerator. But here again, anything is possible.
I'm wondering, if you operate the refrigerator on gas does the clicking stop?

It's probably the over temp sensor. Remove outside cover and see if red LED is lit up. If so, it has shut down and wont work on electric or gas... just a thought. Don't know much about the N811 but should be similar to other Norcold products.

If the high temperature limit switch gets activated nothing happens, it kills power to the board. The only thing that works is the red LED indicator.
She hasn't said if there's an error code on the display so that sort of rules out the HTLS.

When my HTLS tripped it sent a code on the display. Yes control board shuts down. I could still turn unit on and off and lights come on and made clicking noise then stopped. We need a little more information on the problem. Nana and Poppy..?? Im assuming its not working. If flashing is there a pause maybe a flash code. Again dont know anything about the N811.

Nana,
I have not had this happen yet on my Rubicon. I don't believe you have a high temp thingy on yours as I don't and you don't have an error code display. I would have to say that the control board is having troubles and may need to be replaced. That being said I would have to take mine apart to help you know what to look for. There are relays on it for when it switches from gas to electric and they click like you are saying. Have you just tried exercising the switch from gas to electric a few times to see if maybe some dust or dirt have got into the switch. I wish I could help more but I'm only into my first year on my Rubicon and have not had this happen yet. Please let us know what you find. Happy Trails

Sorry - but I have been working two jobs since coming home from vacation (did I say I don't like payroll tax time to fall while I'm on vacation!)- just sat down and got on line.
NO ERROR messages at all on the board. It never shut down the frig - temps never rose to a "dangerous" frig temp.
The light did not "flash" just pulsed!
I did try to switch to propane (it was on electric) and it did the same thing!
I called it a dehumifider - and I don't think that is the right term - could it be the "thingy" that is supposed to stop the moisture collecting on the rubber gasket????
Thanks all for the help!
Kathy
