New Waste Valves
I finally upgraded the factory waste valves to Valterra valves and I'm glad I got that out of the way! My neighbor's valve cable snapped on him last winter and he had to do the repairs in 20 degree weather out in the snow. My stock valves were cheap and never would seat all of the way, leading to liquid gifts every time I went to reconnect my sewer setup after being on the road.
The new valves have the same design but they are built better. They have a solid single strand cable vice the stranded cable that came from the factory. This results in a solid opening and closing operation instead of the spongy operation I got with the old valve. The only down side is that I couldn't find a 3 inch valve with a 96" cable. I had to buy the longer cable separate, but now I have an extra 72" cable for the back in case it ever decides to snap.
The replacement was not too bad, and after wrestling with the rear black tank plumbing I took some advice from others on the forum. I went to Harbor Freight and bought the clamp/spreader for the front valve. That made the job 99% easier!
